College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) as a strong and vibrant service and degree-offering college, the first among equals, in a premier university. Contributory to the Mission of the Nueva Vizcaya State University and in line with its vision of a strong and vibrant college, the College of Arts and Sciences shall provide general education courses to all students from the other colleges of the University, and to serve the special needs of other colleges for major courses in the disciplines of the Arts and Sciences. The choral theater group of the College of Arts& Sciences bested five others in the MUSIKA Competition, the culminating event in the 2nd NVSU National Arts Month Celebration at University gymnasium on February 26, 2016.

The team also won awards back to back for artfully melding a cappella chanting and singing with complex contemporary dance routines. Esther Naguit took home the Best Performer Award for playing “Mara.” The group also bagged Best Choreography and Best in Creativity. Naguit said that this competition developed their talents. CAS is K to 12 ready - Valderama

With Dr. Julius S. Valderama at the helm, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) anticipates the impact of the K to 12 Program in 2016. Dean Valderama said that a number of the faculty will support K to 12 by teaching senior high school classes. Academic departments will continue to improve the curricular offerings in Mathematics, Information Technology, and Computer Science. Other teaching staff will pursue further studies, research and production.

Meanwhile, he added that Kt o 12 will result in an unavoidable trade-off. "Nearly all of the faculty will have normal teaching load in the new Academic Year (AY)," he said. [Continue Reading...]

The Departments of Computer Science and Information Technology united for the first ever CS-IT week themed "Upgradig ICT Skills to respond to Global Challenges" held at the University Library Complex beginning on Febrarury 10, 2016.

The two units sponsored contests, exhibits and raffle draws for CS and IT students. CS and IT Faculty ad students opeed the celebration with a parade around the campus. Officers of the Computer Science Society (CSS) and Future Information Technologists (FITS) led the solidarity dance later.

The Nueva Vizcaya State University graduates 131 CAS students in its 12th Commencement Exercises on April 12, 2016. Of the new Bachelor's degree holders, 88 majored in Information Technology, 26 Computer Sciene, and 17 in Math.
