Posted by: sysadmin | Date posted: June 23, 2016 | Comments: 0 Comment | Views: 4306 ViewsThe Master of Science in Teaching (MST) Math program of the NVSU-Bayombong advanced to level II accreditation as it received a very satisfactory rating of 3.63% above the required mean during the visit of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. on August 11-13, 2015.
“The performance of Math majors in the undergraduate program significantly helped the MST Math Accreditation task force," explained Dean Julius S. Valderama of the College of Arts& Sciences (CAS). The juniors and seniors of the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Math program are partners of graduate students in sustaining the extension services to Bayombong West Elementary School and Bonfal Pilot Elementary School. The BS Math students execute the educational outreach activities, whereas the MST Math students also visit the extension sites to assist.
Accreditation is a mechanism that checks on the quality of education offered by a higher education institution (HEI). According to the Dean, accreditors assessed the MST Math program and found its strengths and weaknesses. Based on these observations, evaluators suggested means of working on underdeveloped aspects of the graduate program. The Dean stressed that passing the second level is proof that CAS has sufficient resources to deliver excellence in instruction and in service to the community.
AACCUP recommended the MST Math program for Level III accreditation, said Mr. Jay ar C. Castriciones, Math and Statistics Chair. The Department is also gearing up for the BS Math Level IV Accreditation in July 2016.#Rosalyn Bulusan
