Kudos! Dr. Lori Shane A. Busa, a CAS faculty, was confirmed “graduate” in the degree of Philosophy at Hokkaido University No.12470, Sapporo, Japan on September 26, 2016. Busa is an international doctorate degree holder who recently reinstated her service in the field of teaching.

Last January 16, 2017, Dr. Busa was officially returned as Chemistry faculty under the Department of Natural Sciences at the at the College of Arts and Sciences. Aside from being a licensed Chemist, she also acts as a Journal Reviewer in the Research, Extension and Business (REBD) at the Nueva Vizcaya State University-Bayombong Campus.

Dr. Busa, who studied on the said university for three (3) years started from October 01, 2013 up to September 26, 2016, was granted a full scholarship from the Japanese government and successfully completed her PhD dissertation entitled “Development of Microfluidic Paper-Based Devices for Food.” Considering her as an international awardee, she bagged the “Hot Article Award” in 2016 at the Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry (JSAC) in Tokyo, Japan. She is also an active member of the different professional organizations in local and in abroad.

During an interview with Dr. Busa, she cited that studying in the other country,  Japan, is quite difficult because it needs adjustment to the language, tradition, and culture of the people, yet this is not an issue for a person who would like to pursue one’s dream. “I am happy that I already came back to the institution where everything was all started especially my professional development,” she said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Busa is nominated as 2017 Outstanding Young Scientist in the Philippines and Outstanding Agricultural Scientist GAWAD SAKA SEARCH 2017.#Venus Tajon
