Seven staff of CAS Update (CU) joined the 107 participants in the 2015 NVSU Invitational Press Conference at the University Library Complex on November 30, 2015.

Themed "Reinforcing Valor and Integrity in Campus Journalism," the event gathered young campus journalists from the region in a forum with renowned media practitioners. CU Associate Editor Alfred Baybayan said his interest never waned throughout the interactive discussions.  “We enjoyed the lectures because the speakers were skillful and open minded,” he explained.

Prof. Ben Domingo Jr., Chair of the CHED Technical Committee for Journalism, and Mr. Melvin Gascon, Northern Luzon correspondent of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, spoke in separate plenary sessions. Prof. Domingo also lectured on features, development communication, and sports writing, while Mr. Gascon discussed editorial writing, news writing and photojournalism.  Former NVSU campus journalists also joined the line-up of parallel lecturers. Mr. Luis del Campo and Mr. Allen Gallardo talked about cartooning, comics, and graphics, and Mr. Michael Sulayao taught Lay-outing. Ms. Kathrine Ojano, Languages Faculty, also spoke about poetry writing.
