This year’s celebration of National Women’s Month was made more meaningful as the Social Sciences and Humanities Department of the College of Arts and Sciences spearheaded an art exhibit on March 18, 2024 at the Old Administration Building, NVSU-Bayombong Campus with the theme, "Maris ken Amiris: An Exhibit of Students’ Perspectives on Women in Creative Forms."

The art display was participated in by social sciences and humanities students and faculty members and was graced by the university president, Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr., who expressed his support and appreciation of the timely and relevant cause.

As the main audience of the exhibition, the socsci & hum students added value to the activity as they turned it into an avenue for self-expressions and individual interpretations of the theme using different art media.

Drawing inspiration from their experiences and enriching dialogues with instructors and mentors, the attendees who are inclined to visual arts shared their thoughts and emotions through drawing, photography, mug painting, calligraphy slogans, and sketching.

Other students found themselves engrossed in exploring historical narratives of notable Filipino women through their autobiographical writings. The remaining students combined their computer skills and knowledge to come up with audiovisual presentations featuring their concepts of empowered women.

With constant efforts of the department and the university to safeguard women’s rights and advocate for gender equality, this art show aimed to contribute to the global force of acknowledging the struggles and celebrating the strides of Filipino women around the world.
