
CAS Lays Out Upcoming Activities at 15th Regular Meeting
Posted by: admin | Date posted: August 18, 2024Faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) convened on September 19 for their 15th regular meeting to discuss key agenda items, including financial reports, the upcoming college founding anniversary, performance reviews, accreditation, and staffing.
As this year’s director general for the CAS Founding Anniversary, Associate Professor Richard Taclay, chair of the Mathematics and Statistics Department, presented the plans and activities for the celebration, including the distribution of tasks among the college departments.
With the theme, “CAS @ 45: PangmalaCASang Samahan, KomuniCASyon, at CASiyahan ng Kolehiyo ng Sining at Agham,” the anniversary this September will feature the annual Sports Fest and a seminar related to gender and development (GAD).
Meanwhile, Mr. Mobbyfrance Esteban, college student council governor, outlined during the meeting the council’s proposed student activities for the CAS Founding Anniversary celebration and Sports Fest (PalaCASan).
In support to this, Assistant Professor Jeffrey Mendoza, college coordinator for Sports Development, tapped the faculty to serve as coaches for the various contested events and emphasized the need for their full support in these competitions.
Further, the meeting also covered the upcoming College Performance Review, which will be held at Dawal Beach Resort in Candelaria, Zambales from September 30 to October 2, 2024, to assess the college's performance and strategize in consonance with the academic calendar.
Other matters discussed during the meeting included the financial status of the college, the implementation of the new Individual Performance Commitment and Review (IPCR) system, and the hiring of new faculty members and emergency instructors to support the college’s growing academic demands.
Dr. Lori Shayne Busa, college dean, facilitated the meeting and reiterated the importance of working well together in order to achieve better results for the students and the college.
The regular meeting was made possible through CAS Memorandum No. 39, series of 2024, which directed faculty attendance to the said regular meeting at 1:30 p.m., Room 2.
