
CAS Math Modeling & Stats Center Opens
Posted by: admin | Date posted: April 27, 2024The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) officially launched its Mathematical Modeling and Statistics Center (MMSC) with a two-day event attended by faculty, staff, and graduate students on April 26-27, 2024 at Dumlao Farmers’ Training Center (DFTC), NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
The MMSC was launched in collaboration with the Mathematics and Statistics Department and Graduate School Department. Prof. Lori Shayne Busa, the college dean, was present at the event, together with the first and current center director of the MMSC, Prof. Julius Valderama. Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Eden Salaguste, Mathematics and Statistics Department chairperson, and Prof. Lany Dullas, Graduate School Department chairperson, were also in attendance to support the launching activities.
The first day of the launch was used to select a pool of statistics experts and to orient 30 faculty and staff members regarding mathematical modeling and advanced statistics. The participants were also introduced to the services of the center.
On the second day, 60 graduate students currently enrolled in statistics-related and research methodology courses benefited from a series of lectures on data analysis and interpretation.
Approved by the NVSU Board of Regents, the CAS Mathematical Modeling and Statistics Center was established to contribute to the analytical capabilities of current and future scholars and facilitate a higher standard of research and academic scholarship within the institution.
