The College and Arts and Sciences (CAS) community assembled along the former Administration Building for an orientation and general assembly to kick-start the academic year, held today, Sept. 4, 2024.

The gathering was attended by Campus Administrator Dr. Arvin Vallesteros, College Dean Dr. Lori Shayne Busa, faculty and staff, and students who are officially enrolled in the different course programs of CAS, including Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, BS Mathematics, BS Information Technology, BS Computer Science, and BS Information Science.

As part of the orientation, the seven department chairpersons presented their respective pool of faculty members. In addition, Dr. Busa announced the Center Directors and college coordinators, for the students to be informed of who they may contact for any future concerns. Dr. Lany Dullas, the Graduate School (GS) chairperson, followed with the GS faculty lineup.

After the CAS students met the college’s faculty workforce, the CAS-SC officers proceeded with a discussion and open forum regarding the council’s planned activities, various recognized college-based organizations, students’ duties and counterparts, upcoming university celebrations where their participation will be required, and other arising students’ concerns and issues.

Representing the Students Affairs and Services office, Mr. Nathaniel Aliguyon, the unit head for Student Handbook Development and the Management Information System (MIS) coordinator, walked the participants through the salient provisions of the University Code of Conduct and Discipline.

The said event was organized and facilitated by the CAS Student Council (CAS-SC) officers headed by CAS-SC Governor Mobbyfrance Esteban.
