
CAS Reviews, Updates Curricular Programs for Quality Education
Posted by: admin | Date posted: October 16, 2024In a move to elevate the quality of academic programs, the department chairpersons, faculty members, center directors, and other key leaders from the College of Arts and Sciences gathered for a full-day curriculum review and enhancement workshop on October 16, 2024 at the Disadeco Resorts and Sports Complex.
Dr. Julius S. Valderama, director of the Mathematics Modeling & Statistical Center, opened the event, followed by Dr. Lori Shayne A. Busa, college dean, who outlined the rationale and objectives of the activity.
Emphasizing the need for high standards, Ms. Sheryl Caroline Boy-Fontanilla, director of Quality Assurance, shared on the importance of aligning academic programs with evolving industry demands and global benchmarks.
The morning program featured department-specific workshops and critique sessions, starting with the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics and Natural Sciences. After the morning break, the focus shifted to the Departments of Information Technology, Information Systems, and Computer Science, where faculty also presented courses offered for feedback and refinement.
Participants reconvened in the afternoon to revise and finalize curricula based on insights gathered throughout the sessions. The finalized outputs were presented before the conclusion of the collaborative review process.
"This initiative ensures our programs remain dynamic and competitive, in keeping with global standards and policies such as the United Nations' (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," Dean Busa explained.
