
CAS Studes Sweep Top Awards during the 2024 Barkada Festival
Posted by: nathan | Date posted: March 20, 2024The sleepless nights and concerted efforts of students and faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences all paid off when they scooped major awards in the recently concluded Barkada Festival, held on March 20, 2024, at Clisoc Field, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
With their synchronized dance performance, colorful costumes, creative float design featuring the Tangguyob Festival, the CAS students were hailed as Champion in Padyak-Bayle sa Kalye (Streetdancing), First Runner-up in Kuligligan (Float Parade), and Second Runner-up in Indakan (Dance Showdown). These top three awards secured the college the First Runner-up position in the overall results of this year's Barkada Festival.
Under the resourceful and hands-on leadership of the CAS Student Council Governess, Ms. Pauline Yadao, alongside other CASSC officers, and with the focused direction and support of the faculty coaches, namely, Ms. Mitus Puguon, Mr. Jester Alagano, and Mr. Alvin Felix, the college made a significant leap in performance ranks from last year's lowest ranking to this year's top spot.
Meanwhile, CAS Dean Lori Shayne Busa, department chairs, and council advisers extended their meritorious congratulations and expressed gratitude to all who have supported and assisted the students behind the scene.
The Barkada Festival, a traditional festivity intended to be participated by students, was organized by the Northern Supreme Student Council (NCSSC), as part of the Charter Anniversary celebrations of Nueva Vizcaya State University. The Barkada Fest comprises various outdoor activities, including Padyak and Kuligligan. These contested activities are designed to showcase NVSU students' creativity, talents, sportsmanship, and interpersonal skills.
