Posted by: admin | Date posted: September 11, 2024To enhance their leadership knowledge and skills, the organization officers and advisers from the College of Arts and Sciences joined forces with other student groups during the Student Organizations Leadership Training Series, held at Bayombong campus from today until Friday (Sept. 11-13, 2024).
The CAS organizations participating in this three-day training include the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council, Association of Future Researchers and Biologists, Analysts and Information Managers Society, Computer Science Society, Future Information Technologists Society, NVSU Mathematics Club, and Chess Club.
The governors, vice governors, mayors, vice mayors, secretaries, and treasurers were assigned to various topics in parallel sessions at separate venues on the campus, including technical writing, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, financial management, and basic first-aid training.
The second and third days of the training will feature workshop activities and cover crucial topics such as gender equality, inclusivity, and mental health awareness.
Meanwhile, University President Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr., who did not miss the chance to meet the young leaders, challenged them to maximize this learning opportunity and to help maintain the safety and cleanliness of the university.
"Good leadership does not happen overnight but is a lifelong process. Hence, a good leader is someone who is willing to trade something off for the betterment of the organization. A good leader is a good follower," he explained.
This capacity-building activity is organized and facilitated by Student Affairs and Services in collaboration with the Northern Supreme Student Council (NCSSC) to promote holistic development among NVSU students.
