
CAS Welcomes Two New Permanent Faculty Members
Posted by: nathan | Date posted: April 17, 2023The College of Arts and Sciences of Nueva Vizcaya State University has just added this week two dynamic and accomplished educators to its faculty lineup. Dr. Merlie M. Binay-an and Ms. Adeline Magos-De Guzman bring their unique talents and experiences to the university and are sure to enrich the academic experience of their students.
Dr. Binay-an is an Assistant Professor III with an extensive teaching background in the Department of Education. Her experience as a learning and development program facilitator and resource speaker makes her a valuable addition to the faculty. She has also conducted action and basic research and served as a learning resource writer and evaluator at both the school and national levels. Her passion for journalism and publication has also made her an active adviser-moderator for school publications, where she has mentored many students who have gone on to become successful writers.
Ms. Binay-an is a graduate of the Bachelor in Secondary Education program with a major in English and holds a master’s degree in teaching English. In 2014, she completed her Doctor of Education, major in Educational Management, at Nueva Vizcaya State University. Ms. Binay-an has been recognized for her exceptional teaching skills with awards and merits across academic and co-curricular fields. Her expertise will be invaluable as she teaches subjects such as the Arts, Purposive Communication, and Technical Writing.
Ms. Adeline Magos-De Guzman is a registered psychometrician, guidance counselor, and licensed professional teacher with a Master of Arts degree in Education with a major in Guidance and Counseling from Saint Mary's University in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program in Clinical Psychology at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines—Manila. Ms. Magos-De Guzman has spent her career focused on improving the mental health and wellbeing of students. Her extensive experience in leadership training, group counseling, mental health, self-esteem, gender and development, and bullying seminars will be a valuable asset to the university's counseling and mental health programs.
Ms. Magos-De Guzman has a deep interest in understanding the various elements that influence human behavior. Her research areas include student counseling and mental health, as well as the study of LGBT issues. As an Instructor I, she will teach subjects such as Understanding the Self and Philippine Indigenous Community.
With the addition of Dr. Merlie M. Binay-an and Ms. Adeline Magos-De Guzman to the faculty, the College of Arts and Sciences of Nueva Vizcaya State University is well on its way to achieving its shared university vision of becoming a premier institution in a global community.
