The Computer Science, Information Technology, and Information System Departments of Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bayombong Campus shared their best practices and program standards in Computer Science education to Rizal Technological University in a benchmarking visit held on April 19, 2024, at the Function Room, NVSU Administration Building, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The one-day visit assembled NVSU officials, including Assoc. Prof. Everson Santos, OIC Vice President for Academic Affairs, Campus Administrator Dr. Arvin Vallesteros, CSITIS department chairs, faculty members, and students; and five delegates from RTU led by their university researcher, Dr. Fortunato T. de la Peña.

As part of RTU’s setting of reference, the visit provided an overview of the curriculum design, organizational structures, teaching methodologies and strategies, and program standards for industry collaboration of the NVSU’s Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), a Level IV-accredited program by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

NVSU President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr. welcomed the RTU delegates and endorsed the university services during their courtesy visit before the program started. Meanwhile, CAS Dean Dr. Lori Shayne Busa, together with the department chairs, facilitated the campus tour with the RTU observers.

The benchmarking activity was part of RTU’s scoping series with identified universities for their proposed Data Science and Software Engineering course offering.
