DICT Region 2- Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Office holds Proficiency Diagnostic Examination in NVSU

In an effort to improve the digital literacy of students, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) conducted an ICT Specialist Proficiency Examination at ITE Building, College of Arts and Sciences on April 26, 2024.

Pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 1408,  the National Computer Center (NCC), now Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) is directed to devise ways of determining the fitness of individuals in occupying highly technical ICT positions and through which the awarding of appropriate ICT (EDP) Specialist Eligibility will be based. And as mandated, this initiative is designed to evaluate an individual’s competence in performing programming, system analysis, and design functions. 

The initial phase of the ICT exam took place with 37 participants from the College of Arts and Sciences comprising BS Information Technology, BS Information System, BS Computer Science students and one faculty from the Computer Science Department. 

The diagnostic exam, administered in written format, covers wide array of topics on Program Simulation, Number System, Data Structures, System Development Life Cycle, Object-Oriented Programming Concepts, Networking Concepts, File Access Methods, and Database Concepts. Successful candidates from the first stage will be invited to undertake the ICT Proficiency Hands-On Examination to be scheduled by the agency at a later date.
