
Late Governor Carlos M. Padilla, father of NVSU, remembered
Posted by: nathan | Date posted: May 8, 2023The faculty and staff of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) joined other Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) employees in paying tribute to the late Hon. Carlos M. Padilla, the former governor of Nueva Vizcaya, on May 8, 2023.
Hon. Padilla was known to be the father of NVSU who authored RA 9272 which merged two state-run institutions in Bambang and Bayombong, finally realizing a long-held vision for the region. He was a staunch advocate for education, culture, environmental protection, healthcare development, and agricultural growth, particularly regarding access roads, to uplift the lives of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the uplands and the people of Nueva Vizcaya in general.
NVSU's current president Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr., described Hon. Padilla as an "epic" and more than just a legend with extraordinary abilities that contributed immensely to the welfare of his people. Hon. Padilla was remembered as a paragon of public service who served the people tirelessly and resolutely, without fear or favor.
The gathering of the CAS faculty and staff, along with other NVSU employees, was a testament to the late governor's impact on the community and his dedication to public service. Although his passing is a loss for the community, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. Hon. Padilla's contributions to education, healthcare, environmental protection, and agricultural growth have left a mark on Nueva Vizcaya that will not be forgotten.
