
NVSU-CAS Collaborates With CSSP-UP Diliman in a Consultation Meeting
Posted by: admin | Date posted: May 2, 2024The College of Arts and Sciences- Social Sciences and Humanities Department convened a Consultation Meeting with the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, UP Diliman, held on May 2, 2024 at the NVSU Board Room, Administration Building, with the primary agenda on enhancing the development of BA Social Sciences, major in Indigenous Studies in NVSU.
Serving as consultants in the development of the Program BA Social Sciences, Major in Indigenous Studies were Dr. Ruth R. Lusterio- Rico, College Dean of Social Sciences and Philosophy; Dr. Mary Ann G. Bacolod, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Kristina S. Gallego, Chair of Department of Linguistics.
The discussions centered on various important aspects. Among the points of discussions sought were the necessary steps in establishing new program; how to frame program offerings in relation to CHED priority programs; identifying best practices and potential challenges in instituting course offering especially BA Social Science track focusing in Indigenous Studies; processes to consider when offering new courses in Social Sciences; and how to negotiate the idea of internationalization in the offering of Indigenous Studies.
The meeting aims to garner insights and recommendations from UP Diliman-CSSP on the development of the aforementioned program. Additionally, this consultation session also forms part of the department’s extension project with CSSP, UP Diliman.
