As the year 2023 draws to a close, the Nueva Vizcaya State University conducted its annual year-end program to celebrate the milestones of the institution while promoting gender equality and women empowerment on December 15, 2023, at the University Gymnasium.

Through Atty. Mariel G. Calimag, who served as the guest of honor and speaker, the culminating activity started with raising awareness among NVSU employees on relevant laws concerning gender equality in personal and workspaces, including Republic Act (RA) 7877, or the "Anti-Sexual Harassment Act," RA 11313, or the "Safe Spaces Act,” and RA 9262, or the "Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.”

In the afternoon, the event exhibited the artistry and camaraderie of the NVSU employees from both campuses of Bambang and Bayombong in the choir and dance contests, which were sponsored and facilitated by the NVSU Faculty and Employee Association (FEA).

Arts and Sciences faculty won big despite challenges

Despite facing tough times with exam week and other activities, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) stole the spotlight during the year-end party as it scored big in both the choir competition and dance.

The CAS choir grabbed first place in the choir contest with their melodious singing and joyful rendition. Simultaneously, the CAS dancers took the stage by storm and captivated the audience with their well-choreographed and energetic performance, landing them in second place in the dance showdown.

Dean Lori Shayne Busa expressed her congratulations to the performers. "CAS is really Number 1," she wrote. Meanwhile Mdm. Rosemarie Cadiente, a choir member, pointed out that all the hard work and late nights they invested in their practices and props were "all worth it."

CAS faculty members also poured out congratulatory messages to the performers for successfully representing the college. The choir members likewise gave a huge shoutout to Sir Daniel Marvin Ramel, the choir leader, for guiding and training them to victory.

The year-end party was attended by all NVSU employees from both campuses. There were games with prizes, raffle draws, and the giving of holiday gift packs to the employees, adding more color and fun to the merry activities.
