Sci-Tech Advocates Convene at 2024 STYLE; CAS Students Win Election, Award

Ten students from the College of Arts and Sciences participated in the 2024 Science and Technology Young Leadership Encampment (STYLE) hosted by the Cavite State University, Indang Cavite, on April 17-19, 2024.

Organized by the Philippine Consortium for Science and Mathematics and Technology (PCSMT), the leadership encampment convened science and technology students and educators along this year’s theme, “Unifying the Young Advocates of Science, Mathematics, and Technology for Nation-Building.”

The three-day training featured various activities and competitions, including essay writing, photo essays, ambassador and ambassadress of PCSMT, election of officers, and team-building tasks. 

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology first-year student Isac King Saquing won fourth place in the Photo Essay contest. BS Bio students Gienelle Eve B. Belinan and Mark Daniel A. Ablong were elected as chapter press information officer and business manager, respectively. 

The following CAS  students also attended the encampment: Althea T. dela Cruz, BS Math 1; Jefferson T. Siongco, BS Bio 1; Katalienne Juliana Prejillano, BS Bio 1; Jeffrey V. Nabuleg, BS Math 1; Danica A. Agresor, BS Math 2; Mark Leo H. Lubong, BS Math 2; Abdul Salam B. Amerol, BSCS 3. The student delegation was accompanied by CAS faculty members Mr. Ruchi Briam James Laguitnay, Mr. Richard Taclay, and Mr. Nick Rojas. 

Held every two years, STYLE convenes science and technology enthusiasts from across the nation to advance these fields and enhance communities and the country.
